Construction has finally begun!
Two and a half months after our pre-start meeting and we have the first sign of progress at the site; a toilet, a skip bin, a fence and a site all prepared and ready to go... I never thought I'd be so rapt to see a portaloo!
There were a few little mix ups and slightly stressful moments on our handover day. The worst of which was having 45 minutes notice on the day to prove 'available funds' in our bank accounts.
Our FOHG application had expired due to the time it took for Boutique to
sort out the contracts and get us to site since the original loan
approval. So we had to re-apply for this and of course it hadn't been
approved by handover day. This meant we had to provide proof
of available bank funds (luckily we had this at the ready) for the loan to be accepted by Boutique, which they
told us at 2.15pm with us needing to get them official documentation
before 3pm.
A little more notice would have been handy as they've had all this documentation for a few months at least.
No harm done in the end though, and we luckily still completed our handover to construction by the deadline and weren't delayed.
We've been introduced via email to our Client Liason who seems super friendly and is already giving us more regular updates than we expected (never a bad thing!). Our Site Supervisor gave us a call and he too seems like a friendly type. He's organised for us to meet him on site sometime this week as a bit of a 'what you can expect' and general introduction, which must be a good sign for the communication side of things!
We are booked in for slab pour next week and have been given an advised by a friend (local tradie) that our frame is due to go up on the 15th of December. Living in the area and driving by the block twice daily (to and from work) and sometimes more, I'm sure I'll have plenty of updates and probably fill a hard drive with far too many photos!
